Meeka Metals brings in MACA for Murchison gold project - International Mining

Meeka Metals Limited has confirmed that a 750 kW ball mill has been safely and effectively dismantled, loaded onto a transport float and is en-route to its Murchison gold project, in Western Australia.

The news comes alongside the appointment of MACA Interquip Mintrex (MIQM) to execute the expansion and re-start work with the carbon-in-leach processing plant.

The mobilisation schedule for the ball mill has been agreed and MIQM’s execution team will mobilise in late October 2024 to begin this expansion work.

Construction of the 136-person accommodation village is also progressing well with 88 rooms installed. Following completion of the accommodation village, installation of the main administration complex adjacent to the processing plant will commence.

The company plans to provide a definitive feasibility study update on Murchison before the end of the year. This is expected to offer up a re-optimised production plan for the increased processing capacity, when compared with the May 2024 study, which was based on a 500,000 t/y processing capacity for total gold mined of 400,000 oz.

Meeka is already aiming to commence open-pit mining in March 2025.

Meeka’s Managing Director, Tim Davidson, said: “Progress continues at a great pace and it is pleasing to now have the ball mill en-route to the Murchison and the execution team for the millexpansion work preparing to mobilise in late October 2024. There continues to be a rapid intensification of activity on site and pleasingly the team continue to hit project delivery targets.”
