Cone crusher series boasts higher performance | Engineer Live

A new crusher series could make an ideal choice for diverse rock processing operations.

Finnish industrial machinery company Metso unveils its newest addition, the Nordberg HP350e, to its Nordberg HPe crusher series. Engineered to address the ever-growing performance demands of the aggregates and mining sectors, this cone crusher promises better performance, increased uptime, and enhanced sustainability. With improved functionality, streamlined maintenance, and a host of other upgrades, it sets a new standard for efficiency and reliability in crushing operations.

The Nordberg HP350e boasts enhanced performance driven by four key factors: kinematics, chambers, release force, and power rating. Metso says that compared to the traditional HP300 crusher, the HP350e delivers up to a 10% performance increase when employed in secondary and tertiary applications.

Operators can select from various kinematics options tailored to their specific needs. These include enhanced kinematics for maximum capacity and reduction, classic HP300 kinematics for standard performance, and reduced stroke for decreased throughput, ideal for circuit limitations.

The HP350e cone crushers comes equipped with no-backing manganese for the mantle and bowl liner, streamlining the liner replacement process by eliminating the need for backing compound solidification. This not only saves time but also enhances safety during installation, as there is no handling, mixing, or pouring of backing material required. Additionally, this solution is environmentally friendly, as it eliminates the need for backing material altogether.

To further enhance safety, a specific feed cone lifting tool is included, designed for safe lifting and handling of the feed cone. Tramp release cylinders have been developed for easier removal and re-installation, simplifying service and maintenance tasks. The head anti-spin brake extends liner lifetime by reducing head spin during idle periods. Optional ring bounce monitoring enhances machine protection, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

The Nordberg HP350e also offers new application-specific chambers tailored to various crushing needs. These include coarse chambers EC (extra coarse) and C (coarse) for effective secondary crushing, fine end chambers optimised for tertiary and fine crushing, F-NF (narrow fraction) to maximise typical aggregate fractions yield, and an F-Sand chamber designed for high-quality sand production.

Metso offers comprehensive aftermarket support for the Nordberg HP350e, with many parts common between the earlier HP300 design and the new model, and the rest either interchangeable or upgradable. Current HP300 owners can opt for Metso’s HPe upgrade kits, granting cost-effective access to new features such as enhanced kinematics, head anti-spin brake, and ring bounce monitoring, as well as no-backing liners via head and bowl upgrades. Additionally, the new HP350e can utilise older-generation HP300 backing liners if necessary.

The company is also making Nordberg HPe series crushers available as US-compliant NordplantTM Pre-designed Crushing Modules (TM), offering all-in-one delivery for quick assembly in replacing crushing stations or setting up new quarries.

Furthermore, Metso has introduced the first HPe series crusher on tracks for enhanced mobility. The Lokotrack LT200HPX features a Nordberg HP200e cone crusher and a 2-deck pre-screen, delivering up to 40% higher capacity than the LT200HP.
